The Force is Strong

The first target of the new unit deals with like and unlike charges.  So we did a quick magnet lab today.

Making Ain't Easy

Today was a Waste Day.  Kids are continuing to build.  I love the movement, the energy, the intensity.  Kids making, failing, finding what they need, planning, designing, creating.  It was magical.
This will be a clock with the numbers made from trash.
A basketball player creating a defender to practice against.
Creating a cookbook with a theme of vegetables from our school garden.
A rain barrell.
Drilling the tap
The wind turbine from a fan group has lit an LED.
Creating containers from discarded paper.

The Law of Conservation of Matter

Kids did a quick lab where they compared a control to a chemical reaction.  They measured the reactants and the products and compared the results.

So you wanna build a water robot?

Mr. Hayes and I have begun our water robot after school program.  In February there will be a competition where students will have tasks that their robot will have to perform.  Today we started planning.  We split up into three groups.  One working on a camera.  One working on a body design.  One working on a claw.
Lights.  Camera. Action.

A space to talk.

We took over the library today to present our Waste Project Infographics.  A great big thanks To Mrs. Tumminello and Mrs. Wells.  Mrs. T offered up her space and Mrs. Wells offered up her class as an audience for my students to present.  The great part is that her class is also my class so students were able to share ideas with each other.
Talking
Explaining and Listening
Such a collaborative space.
Wait I can't see that!
Pictures, words and our voices, Oh My!
