The Work Continues

Construction is still in progress.  We are seeing some finished designs.  As well as some change in designs.  It was a good day.

Kids these days just can't sit still.

So simple.  So effective.
My group testing and problem solving the pressurized launcher.
I so love this tool.
Greek Columns?
An explanation of the design.
Sawing
More dremel work.

Today. We. Built.

We had a build day today.  We sawed, dremmeled, painted, wired, drilled, and played with PVC cement.  Ideas are taking shape and being modified.
The pink was changed to black later in the day.
This group is testing pressurized air.
I was the sawing room today and man we sawed.
This group is using two motors and two wheels to propel the pingpong ball.
Catapults away!
I am interested in how this one works.
Dremmeling notches.
Spade bit to nestle dowel rods into the board.

Building a Battleship

In preparation for Battleship we need boat game pieces.  So we headed to the pallets stored in my room.  That's right free wood.
Enter the beloved Sawzall.
Placement is everything.
Sanding
Each team will have a boat with two, three and four cups.

I had a sick kiddo today.

Ellie had to stay home today.  So she and I went in to talk to Mr. Ward about sub plans.  I had contacted him last night to see if he was willing to let the kids have a work day.  So my sub plans entailed a PVC cutter and a drill demo.  Thank you Mr. Ward for subbing.
The lesson.
Fine tuning his skills.
Taking some notes.

Let the making begin.

Band was gone today so those that were left continued designing and then began to make.  We used the saw a lot today.  No pictures because I was spotting.
A great Tinkercad design.
Ideas
That's right a bike pump.
Very similar to the whiteboard drawing from above but a different class.
Making rails for her launcher to slide on.
Think goal post slingshot.

I Love It When A Plan Comes Together

At the last minute Dempsey and I changed a ping pong ball launcher build to a game of battleship. Today we let them loose to design.
Some used the classroom dry erase board.
Some wanted the portable variety.
Some needed to gather data.
Some opted for the window.
Some went to The Google.

What's the charge?

Static station continue.
When you charge a piece of plastic wrap and hold it up to your arm.  Opposites Attract
The same plastic wrap rebels itself. Likes Repel
We also looked at magnetic fields.
Nothing like a good ole fashioned static can race.

Everyone Needs A Vampire Bunny

Last week a new student joined us.  We were finishing up projects so I asked her if she had ever designed anything in 3D.  She said no.  Welcome to Tinkercad.
Getting her bearings.
Tweeking the design
It become a reality.

Checking in on Makerspace

A quick check in.
A group taking apart an old printer.
Figuring it out.
Mr. Dempsey and I bought a flash dryer to make t-shirts.  Kids putting it together.
A claw for the Kaiju movie.
